- STAR WARS KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC 1 OR 2 SOFTWARE
Microsoft needs to learn the lesson, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
STAR WARS KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC 1 OR 2 SOFTWARE
Tested multiple times and yeah, it's definitely the Nahimic software that was causing my issue. Sure enough to my surprise, both games are now working perfectly again. So I went to my system tray and shut down the Nahimic software that was running and tried the games again. I didn't think that was likely the issue, but knew it was "technically" possible and it didn't hurt to test it. Haven't had a problem since until trying to run this game for first time in about a year.
STAR WARS KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC 1 OR 2 UPDATE
I remembered that Nahimic did a weird update I never asked for about 4-6 months ago (probably a windows update) that screwed up my audio on my PC and took me hours to fix. Did a google search about launching only on first launch and found a reference to a deleted post from December where someone claimed Nahimic was blocking the games. Then failed to launch from then on always forcing me to kill the process.

Tested this three times uninstalling and reinstalling. So I thought it might be something with config, but couldn't figure out what. After installing the old version I had, it would always launch on the first run, but never again after. Looks like my Nahimic software for the sound card on my motherboard was somehow preventing the games from launching, relegating them to sitting idle in processes or in "background processes". Ok, I managed to find the problem preventing the game (both games) from launching. So if your "binkw32.dll" is missing, then I suggest you reinstall the game using GOG's installer. I also tested the installer for the KOTOR games and can also confirm that "binkw32.dll" is installed by the KOTOR 2 installer from GOG itself. However, I did check the download and my copy and can confirm that all of the files are intact. So the next thing I will try is to backdate my installation to the older version I previously used when playing by uninstalling and reinstalling using the older version installer I have backed up.

It does seem that GOG updated the KOTOR installation after I uploaded the patch.
STAR WARS KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC 1 OR 2 PATCH
So I have no way of testing the patch at the moment. They worked fine last year, but for some reason when I try to launch them they just sit there in the processes list and don't do anything. Neither KOTOR 1 nor 2 will launch at all. Someone else did, I just re-uploaded it when requested because the original poster pulled it because another poster spooked him with a lie.ĮDIT: OK, I don't know what's going on, but it seems I can't even launch KOTOR 2 anymore. Possibly an antivirus automatically deleting files without notifying you (some AV's have reportedly been a little twitchy with false positives), but I'll do some checks just to make sure my google drive isn't playing any funny games with my files. My gut instinct is the problem is on your end. bink dll files are missing Well, many people have downloaded and installed this without issue and I've used this myself when I was playing.
